![]() Manuscript 2009.06LAGRANGE INDUSTRIAL PARK COLLECTION1963-1969 SIZE: .1 lf SHELVING UNIT: 1 box PROCESSING: GM, BNJ, 2009 HISTORICAL NOTE:The LaGrange Industrial Park, a stock holding company, was incorporated February 22, 1963, for the purpose of promoting the growth and progress of the City of LaGrange and Troup County through industrial development. The goals of the company included securing new industry, alleviating unemployment, and promoting the healthy and orderly progress of the city. Members of the first Board of Directors were: Nasor Mansour, President; Joe Dougherty, Vice President; William F. Holle, Treasurer; Charles E. Franklin, Secretary, J. K. Boatwright, Jr., Jack Davis, James G. Gallant, John Newman, O. F. Nixon, Woodrow Smith and Henderson Traylor. Seventy-five acres of land between Whitesville and Webster Streets in LaGrange was purchased for the Industrial Park. Early occupants of the park were Woodbury Business Forms, Signal Knitting Mills and Akers Motor Lines, Inc. The corporation ceased to exist when Callaway Industrial Park, with 2200 acres of land between Whitesville and West Point Roads, was established in 1969.SCOPE AND CONTENT:The collection contains minutes of the corporation from March 1, 1963 until May 22, 1969.
