(d. 1946) and Eva McCurdy Smotherman (d. 1990). F. L. Smotherman was a prominent LaGrange grocer who served two terms on the LaGrange City Council (1931-1934) and was a member of local draft board No. 2 during World War II. Prior to her retirement, Betty Ragan was employed in the laboratories of West Georgia Medical Center and Clark-Holder Clinic. SCOPE AND CONTENT: The collection consists of various programs and events in LaGrange from 1930-1948. Of particular interests are a 1940 LaGrange High Home Economic Club meeting in Thomaston, Georgia, complete with club song; the 1943 Army-Navy E Award for Excellence in War Production program for Callaway Mills; and the 1949 Miss LaGrange Pageant. A patient pamphlet from the City-County Hospital provides insight into its services and fees. A 1935-36 season pass to LaGrange City Pool, some business advertisements, copies of The Clarion, LaGrange High newspaper, and a photo of LaGrange City Officials in 1930 complete the collection.
