![]() Manuscript 2008.05THEODORA THOMAS COLLECTIONMS-2008.051933-1978 SOURCE: Bruce Crawford SIZE: .1 lf SHELVING UNIT: 9 folders PROCESSING: BNJ, 2008 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Theodora Thomas (b. 1905, d. 7-26-1986) was the great granddaughter of bridge builder Horace King and granddaughter of King's son, John Thomas King. She was the daughter of Augustine Thomas and Carrie King. Ms. Thomas, a retired teacher with the LaGrange School System, lived at 603 Greenville Street in a home constructed by her grandfather, John. She was a graduate of Fort Valley State College and Atlanta University and is buried in Southview Cemetery, LaGrange. SCOPE AND CONTENT: The collection consists of genealogy notes written by Theodora Thomas outlining information she learned about Horace King and his descendants. Maps and locations of King family burial plots are included. Photographs of King, his children and family members form an important part of the collection. Family recipes, mostly baked goods but also a recipe for whisky, as well as news clippings and information on White Water Creek and Glass' covered bridges are included. Eighteen postcards of covered bridges, Fort Valley College, and sites in Ohio and New York are a part of the collection. Also donated were two pieces of Masonic jewelry. CONTAINER LIST:Folders
