BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Andrew J. Allen, Jr., was born July 23, 1920, in Woodbury, Georgia. He grew up in Gabbettville, Georgia, and graduated from Center High School. During World War II, he served as an Air Force gunner. In 1943, he was elected the "Student Captain" of his barrack because of his initiative, honesty, cooperativeness and high mental and moral qualifications. In 1945, he married Alberta Wuerth. After WWII, he served in the Air Force Reserves.

The items in this collection were found in a LaGrange home. The relationship between Andrew J. Allen, Jr. and the homeowner is unknown.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

The collection consists of military orders, certificates, and citations reflecting Sgt. Allen's service in the Army Air Corps and Air Force Reserves.
