YOUNG COLLECTION MS 2004.14 1950-1985 SOURCE: Loretta Clinton SIZE: .3 lf PROCESSING: BNJ, 2004 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Robert Charles Young, the son of Parker and Estella Tooms Young, was born July 25, 1920, in Jefferson County, Alabama. A veteran of the Army during World War II, he graduated from Morehouse College and Atlanta University. He taught social studies for 33 years in the Troup County School system at Mt. Pleasant Elementary and Troup Junior High School. Robert Young died December 14, 2003 and is survived by two children. SCOPE AND CONTENT: The collection consists mainly of school programs and newspapers detailing events at Ethel Kight High School, East Depot High School, Troup Junior High School and Troup High School from 1950-1985. Of particular interest is a copy of The Informer, a newspaper published for the black community. Photographs of school events, faculty and students complete the collection.
