![]() Manuscript MS-2001.07MS-2001.07 1863-1990 SOURCE: Julia Traylor Dyar SIZE: .3 lf PROCESSING: BNJ, 2002 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Julia Traylor Dyar, daughter of James Edward Traylor and Gladys Marchman, was born May 2, 1925, in LaGrange. After graduating from Greensboro High School (GA) and LaGrange College (1946), she married Hubert L. Dyar (February 8, 1926 - October 4, 1973) on January 3, 1948 at the Chapel of First Baptist Church in LaGrange. She then became Associate Editor of The Royston (GA), a family owned newspaper. For seven years, she was a correspondent with the Atlanta Constitution and a writer for the Anderson Independent (SC). In 1958, she became Assistant Manager of the Georgia Press Association and Executive Manager in 1972. In 1978, she joined LaGrange College as Director of Office of Institutional Relations, a position she retired from in 1993. She has been active in numerous organizations including the Troup County Historical Society where she served as President from 1982-1984. The 1987 Quadrangle, the LaGrange College yearbook, was dedicated to her. She began writing a column on local history for the LaGrange Daily News in 1993.
