BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Mary Cornelia Leslie (b. 10-22-1906; d. 8-24-1992), a native of the Big Springs community of Troup County, was the daughter of Gus Truitt Leslie and Nancy Louisa McGee. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1924 and, after receiving normal college training, taught third grade at Unity School until retiring in 1968. Her great grandfather, Thomas Leslie, III, was one of the three founders of Troup Factory. She died in Dalton, Georgia.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

The collection consists of a scrapbook made in 1924, her senior year at LaGrange High School. The book contains names of classmates, farewell messages, poems, songs, programs, a listing of teachers and sports articles clipped from newspapers. Also included are biographical notes, teaching certificates issued by the State of Georgia and her death certificate.
