BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Lucy Jeanett Lanier Nixon, a native of Chambers County, Alabama (b. 1-11-1912; d. 7-21-1981), was the daughter of George Huguley Lanier (b. 1880; d. 1968) and Marie Lamar . Her husband, O.F. Nixon, Jr., was president of Industrial Suppliers, Inc. of LaGrange, Georgia. Mrs. Nixon was a member of and organist at First United Methodist Church and a member of the American Guild of Organists. She was one of the founders of the LaGrange Mutual Concert Association.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

The collection contains the minute book of the Lucy Lanier Nixon Foundation, Inc., chartered on October 14, 1950, as an organization for religious, charitable and education purposes. The minutes reflect contributions to various organizations from December 1950 until October 13, 1970, when the corporation dissolved.
