He served in the U.S. Army, Signal Corps, during World War II and the Korean Conflict, reaching the rank of Warrant Officer. In 1944, he married Elaine Sayers (b. 6-26-1924; d. 8-23-2002), daughter of Paul T. and Geneva Sayers of LaGrange.SCOPE AND CONTENT:The collection contains military memorabilia from Harry Breed's service in World War II. An Army furlough dated July 2, 1942, allowing Breed to return home to LaGrange is of particular interest. Also included are Breed's 1942 Georgia Driver's License and a Callaway Mills Award for Excellence in War Productions (1943). An 1889 letter addressed to Bettie Beasley of Whitesville, Georgia, and a Bible belonging to Sallie Beasley complete the collection.
