BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

LaGrange music teacher, Ruth Hardy Jamison, (b. 1900; d. 1981), was the daughter of W. J. Hardy and Ella Dunlap of the Stovall Community of Troup County. She was a graduate of LaGrange College and for several years taught piano and expression at schools in Douglasville and Villa Rica, Georgia, as well as Mountville School in Troup County. She was also a member of the faculty at Southwest LaGrange and Unity Schools. In December, 1940, she married L. S. Jamison (d. 1962) of Gadsden, Alabama, who later served as postmaster of Stovall, Georgia.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

The collection consists of one scrapbook and one folder of correspondence with school superintendents (1931-41) concerning job offers. The scrapbook contains recital programs featuring Miss Hardy at LaGrange College and recitals of her students (1915-1932). Some newspaper clippings in the scrapbook contain family information.
