BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: H. Frank Lewis, (b. 1914, d. 6-8-1974), a native of Troup County, was the son of C. J. and Espa Lewis. He was an associate of Callaway Mills for 32 years and in 1964 founded and served as president of Mountville Mills. In 1938, he married Wessie Norton (b. 8-15-1915; d. 9-29-2007), the daughter of I. E. and Sarah Norton, a 1933 graduate of LaGrange High School. They had two daughters, Martha Ann Chitwood and Sara Jeanette Little.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The collection consists of receipts from LaGrange businesses, including the purchase by Mr. Lewis of a 1946 Plymouth Club Coupe from Dodd Motor Company. Army Air Forces Aircraft Warning Certificates of Honorable Service issued to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, a 1961 Callaway Education Association dance recital program and a 1962 Sears Employee newsletter featuring photographs of a relative, Sandra Lewis, are also included in the collection. Photographs of Callaway Mills personnel and LaGrange High sports teams, plus Wessie Lewis' 1933 senior yearbooks, the Clarion, and World War II medals belonging to Mr. Lewis' brother, Ralph, complete the collection.
