A few months ago we carried an SUV loaded with old, original Troup County records to the State Archives for microfilming. Ultimately, they will be available on line to researchers. We had no sooner gone and brought them back when a researcher from Texas came to spend the week looking in original records. Since he was here, he did not want to wait for them to go on-line, and fortunately, we had them back at home for him to use. He read through every record book that we could find for the time period his ancestors were in Troup County, just on the off chance that he would come across some previously unknown record. He was successful, but if the timing had not been perfect, these records would have been out of house and he would have been out of luck! It is always a good idea to call or email ahead when coming from any distance to see if we have or can pull records that one might want to use. Especially if one is coming on one of the two Saturdays that the Archives is open (first and third) because we cannot pull records from storage on those days.
