Author Jackie Kennedy Book Signing at Legacy Museum

Troup County Archives and Legacy Museum are pleased to announce a Meet the Author and Book Signing, Tuesday December 13, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Legacy Museum, 136 Main Street, LaGrange.  Noted local writer, Jackie Kennedy, will meet and sign copies of her newest book, Place and Plate: Culture and Cooking in West Georgia

Diverse Power, to commemorate its 80th anniversary, decided to promote tourism in West Georgia and commissioned the work that is a combination cookbook; local history book; and tourism attraction reference book about West Georgia.

The 320-page, hardbound book with full color photographs was written by Troup County resident Jackie Kennedy and features 307 recipes submitted by Diverse Power members. All recipes published in the book were tested by a team of 14 volunteers to assure proper measurements and cooking methods were included in each recipe.

Along with dishes ranging from Honey Pancakes to Crispy Crusted Red Snapper, the book features history and top attractions of the 14 counties where Diverse Power delivers electricity.  Several restaurants in each county are spotlighted.

The book includes 32 pages featuring Troup County attractions including Legacy Museum, Hills and Dales Estate, Bellevue, and the Biblical History Center.  Devoted to community and economic development within the region it serves, Diverse Power published the cookbook to promote tourism within the cooperative’s service area.  All copies of the first printing of 4,000 copies were distributed, and a second printing was completed in October.

Retailing at $34.95, Place and Plate is available at various locations featured in the book, including Legacy Museum.

Headquartered in LaGrange, Diverse Power is a not-for-profit electric cooperative owned by the members to whom it supplies electricity.
